Robert “Bob” Johnson

EDINBURGH

Robert “Bob” Johnson, 88, of Edinburgh passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024. Bob was born on June 28, 1936 in Clarkdale, Georgia. He was the only child of Cleland and Gladys Johnson.

After graduating from Anchorage High School in Alaska, he joined the Air Force. He served as a Medic in the Flight Surgeon’s office at McCoy AFB in Florida. It was here in Orlando where he met the love of his live, Phyllis Burton. They were married on November 26, 1960 in the Chapel at McCoy. They eventually moved to Indiana and made their home in Flat Rock and later in Edinburgh.

Together they owned and operated Lynn-Ann Fashions in Edinburgh and Columbus for many years. This business was named after their two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Robin Lynn. Bob eventually went on to retire as a Rural Letter Carrier for the USPS in Waldron.

Bob’s quick wit, dreamer mentality, and love for his family and friends will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, in 2019 and his son-in-law, Rockie Krebbs, in 2020.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and Robin Krebbs of Indiana; grandchildren Mac Nix of California, Ballard (Ashley) Bartlett, and Franny (Justin) Mathis; and two great-grandsons, all of Indiana.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a graveside service with military honors was held at 1pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. All friends and family were invited to attend.

Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Bartholomew County Humane Society, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation in his honor.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
