William “Bill” T. Maze

GREENWOOD

William “Bill” T. Maze, 90 died August 28, 2024, at Aspen Trace Assisted Living Facility, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a lifelong resident of Greenwood.

He was born March 5, 1934, in Greenwood to Merrill and Ann (DeRitter) Maze. He married Ruth Anne (Terrell) Maze on December 6, 1959.

Survivors include two sons, Scott (Lillie) Maze of Greenwood, Mark (Peggy) Maze of Columbus; two brothers Harold Maze of Greenwood and Wendell Maze of New Whiteland. Seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Close friend Linda Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Anne Maze of 51 years, and his parents.

He graduated from Greenwood Community High School.

He was self-employed as owner/operator of Dutch Gardens and Landscaping from 1998 to 2024. He previously worked for Alexander Graphics in Indianapolis for 40 years, and prior to that, 1951-1958 at the Johnson County news in Greenwood. He served part-time as an Editorial Cartoonist, and illustrated a book for a professor at the University of Illinois.

Bill was an Army veteran and an honorary member of the Navy submarine USS Tiru.

He was a member of the Grace Assembly of God and past officer of the year in the Greenwood Jaycees. Since 1998 has conducted worship services each Sunday at the Valle Vista Health System in Greenwood.

Bill enjoyed gardening and traveling, having traveled in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and across Europe. Bill in an art and hobby show was awarded grand prize as well as giving chalk talks in local churches. He was known for his children services. He coached Greenwood Little League for several years. He loved to attend and was an avid supporter of his grand children’s activities and sporting events.

A visitation will be held at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142 on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate the life of Bill. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm. A burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, IN.
