Steven Eugene “Steve” Walker

GREENWOOD, IN.

Steven Eugene “Steve” Walker, 75, of Greenwood, IN passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Steve was born September 14, 1948, in Beech Grove, IN to Ernest E. “Bud” Walker and Opal C. “GiGi” (Osborne) Walker. He married Marti L. (Michaud) Walker on June 19, 1970, in Indianapolis, IN, she survives.

He was a 1966 graduate of Center Grove High School having grown up in the Bargersville, IN community.

Steve retired as a machinist/millwright at Certa Craft Tool and Engineering in Greenwood, IN after 44 years of service. After retirement, he had worked at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood assisting in all areas of care of the cemetery and assisting families in their time of need.

He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, cars, racing, and was a Jeff Gordon fan, trips to Tennessee with family and friends, spending time with family, friends and especially his great- grandsons. Steve loved spoiling his grandchildren with ice cream. He was a hard working family man.

Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years Marti L. (Michaud) Walker of Greenwood, IN, his children Tina Ralph (Matt) of Greenwood, IN, Stacy Ashbrook (Brian) of Whiteland, IN and Amy Walker of Loganville, GA, six grandchildren Chelsea Catt (Nate) of Lorena, Texas, Raynah Tipton of Greenfield, IN, Cierrah Mislan of Greenwood, IN, Tayton Schakel of Greenwood, IN, Dalton Schakel of Whiteland, IN and Lyla Schakel of Whiteland, IN, three step-grandchildren Matt Ashbrook of Whiteland, IN, Myha Ashbrook of Whiteland, IN and Mason Ashbrook of Martinsville, IN, two great-grandsons Hudson and Hayden Catt, siblings Christie Watson of Greenwood, IN, Beckie Stumpf (Richard) of Whiteland, IN, Bonnie Ott (Wayne) of Greenwood, IN and Randy Walker (Cathy) of Greenwood, IN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Vickie Lynn Booher.

The Reverend Cleon Wright will conduct a service on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/stevewalker. Friends may call Monday, September 9, 2024, from 3PM until service time at the mortuary.
