Girls volleyball

Trojans knock off No. 3 Bulldogs

Class 4A No. 7 Center Grove scored its biggest win of the season thus far with a 27-25, 31-29, 25-20 home sweep of third-ranked Brownsburg on Tuesday night. Sophomore Kaylen Plunkard came up with a pair of late kills to slow a late Bulldog rally in the third set and seal the match for the Trojans (14-5).

Grizzly Cubs sweep Artesians

Franklin stayed unbeaten in the Mid-State Conference with a 25-11, 25-13, 25-11 win over Martinsville. The Grizzly Cubs improved to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in league play.

Boys tennis

Warriors blank Woodmen

No. 23 Whiteland were a 5-0 winner over Greenwood on Tuesday. Spencer Gillespie, A.J. Stephenson and Jeremiah Hurt won their singles matches in straight sets for the Warriors (12-4), Isaac Phegley and Gavin Stubbe were a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1 doubles and the second duo of Quintin Gieseking and Tysen McGary claimed their match by the same score.

Lancers come up short

Edinburgh lost to Triton Central, 5-0, with all five matches decided in straight sets.

Girls golf

Center Grove edges No. 4 Hilltoppers

No. 8 Center Grove topped No. 4 Floyd Central, 321-330, in the North/South Cup at Covered Bridge on Tuesday. Magnolia Miller shot a 77 to pace the Trojans, with London Dodson (80), Olivia Alvey (81) and Zoe Land (83) rounding out the scoring.

Franklin tops Golden Bears

Sixth-ranked Franklin defeated Shelbyville, 181-199, at Blue Bear Mia Hart led the Grizzly Cubs with a 43, followed by Cassidy Rucker at 45, Mel Flora at 46 and both Leah Graves and Keeley Alexander at 47.

Trojans edge Falcons

Charlie Habig scored a pair of goals to lift Class 3A No. 1 Center Grove to a 2-1 triumph over Perry Meridian on Tuesday. Niekos Whitney and Saul Greenwood each had an assist for the Trojans (11-0).
