Weather forces Franklin Fall Festival cancellation

A soggy, windy weather forecast has forced the cancellation of the Franklin Fall Festival this weekend.

Franklin Parks and Recreation officials announced they were cancelling Saturday’s festival in a social media post.

“This decision was made after much thought and many conversations. Our main concern is for the safety of our patrons, participants, vendors and entertainers. We have chosen to error on the side,” read the post on the parks Facebook page on Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the parks department also cancelled Friday’s concert by Corey Cox and Hank Ruff at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater at Youngs Creek Park.

The festival will not be rescheduled. Franklin Parks and Recreation will host its Halloween Town event on Oct. 26.
