Festival Country: Feels like fall in Festival Country

It’s finally that time of year again: festive fall parades, trick-or-treating, spooky festivals, and more concerts. If you are as excited as we are here at Festival Country Indiana, here are some spooky events and other fall festivities you won’t want to miss this season.

Trafalgar

The Apple Works is hosting their annual fall Highlander Festival Oct. 5 and 6. The festival will include music from Highland Reign, artisans, food and more. This festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Apple Works will also be open through Oct. 27 with plentiful fall attractions such as pony rides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, live music, a pumpkin patch and so much more. Their fall hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at 8157 S. 250 West.

Trick-or-treating hours for Trafalgar will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Greenwood

Greenwood is continuing their fall concert series Saturday, Oct. 5, featuring Der Polkatz. The final fall concert will feature the Dueling Pianos Oct. 12. Enjoy food, drinks, and live music all night at 100 Surina Way from 6 to 8 p.m.

Greenwood’s Monster Mash is coming back to Craig Park to celebrate Halloween on Friday, Oct. 18. This community event will include trick-or-treating, music, food, and hayrides from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is free to the public and costumes are encouraged for all ages.

Final Fridays will be Oct. 25 where shops and restaurants stay open late in Old Town Greenwood until 8 p.m. There will be local artisans, musicians and other activities throughout the downtown area.

Greenwood is having their annual Halloween parade Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. The parade will start at Craig Park, go west on Main Street, go south on Madison Avenue, go back east on Surina Way and end back in Craig Park. People of all ages are encouraged to dress in costume and line the parade route to get candy.

Trick-or-treating hours for Greenwood will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Franklin

Discover Downtown Franklin hosts Porchtober every Saturday of the month from 6 to 10 p.m. rotating throughout different locations downtown. The live music lineup for the Oct. 5 evening includes Lisa Frank and the Trapper Keepers and Martin Wells. The Oct. 12 concert includes The Auburns and Fathers of the Future. The Oct. 19 concert will have The Everyday Losers and Shack #9. The last Porchtober concert of the month will include Wick – The Band and Joshua Powell, Moon Goons on Oct. 26.

Another local favorite in Franklin is Jenkins Farm Market, located at 5566 State Road 252. Jenkins offers a pumpkin patch, a corn maze scavenger hunt and a farm market with locally grown or made goods. The pumpkin patch and corn maze will be open Sept. 28 through the month of October and the market is open all year. Their current hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Sunday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Enjoy kids activities, more than 200 local vendors, trick-or-treating, food trucks, fall fun and more during the Hoosier Fall Festival on Oct. 19 and 20 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. Admission is free and the hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Spend the day in downtown Franklin for Franklin’s Halloween Town on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Halloween Hustle 5K run/walk and 1-mile family walk will start at 10 a.m. at the amphitheater.

The Howl-o-ween pet costume contest will start at 4 p.m. at the amphitheater. The day will end with Trick the Town where Franklin businesses throughout downtown and car trunks at the amphitheater will be giving out candy from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will also be kid activities at the amphitheater from 5 to 7:30 p.m. including lawn games, crafts and a cake walk.

Trick-or-treating hours for Franklin will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

First Fridays will be Nov. 1 where downtown stores and restaurants will stay open late until 8 p.m. There will be live music, artists and other fun activities.

Bargersville

Mallow Run Winery is having their Harvest Festival Oct. 12 from noon to 6 p.m. to celebrate fall at 6964 W. Whiteland Road. There will be food trucks, wine, fall treats and more.

Local businesses and organizations will also be hosting a free trunk-or-treating event in downtown Bargersville on Oct. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Trick-or-treating hours for Bargersville will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Whiteland

Kelsay Farms at 6848 N. County Road 250 East is hosting a trick-or-treating event Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m., and kids can receive candy and other prizes around their legendary corn maze. Kelsay Farms is also open every weekend through Oct. 27 with numerous fall activities such as hayrides, a straw bale mountain, a seven-acre corn maze with a scavenger hunt experience, a livestock barn and so much more. Their hours are 6 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Trick-or-treating hours for Whiteland will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

New Whiteland

Trick-or-treating hours for New Whiteland will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Edinburgh

Trick-or-treating hours for Edinburgh will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Prince’s Lakes

Trick-or-treating hours for Prince’s Lakes will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
