College notebook: Ray leads UIndy golf to tournament win

University of Indianapolis junior golfer Ava Ray captured medalist honors to lead the Greyhounds to the Flyers Fall Intercollegiate title. The former Franklin star shot a 3-over-par total of 147, including a 71 on the first day.

Franklin

Junior outside hitter Cami Kelsay totaled 19 digs, 14 kills and two service aces as Jacksonville University women’s volleyball split home matches against Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson.

Center Grove

Junior outside hitter Katie Egenolf helped lead the way with eight kills, eight digs and four service aces as Ball State women’s volleyball prevailed in four sets at Miami of Ohio.

Senior middle blocker Grace Boggess totaled seven kills and a dig for Butler volleyball in losses to Creighton and Marquette.

Marian men’s golf took second of 13 teams at the Memphis Shootout. Senior Brandon Heffner finished 12th individually with a three-round score of 229, while junior Luke Beetz carded a 233.

IU Indy sophomore golfer Brady Schier finished tied for 24th at The Indy at Forest Hills event.

Indiana State men’s cross country competed at Notre Dame’s Joe Piane Invitational, with Parker Mimbela completing the 8K race in 25:34.5.

Vincennes University freshman Rylan Mullins ran a time of 29:05.6 at the Live in Lou men’s cross country classic.

UIndy women golf finished first at the Flyers Fall Intercollegiate. Freshman Lexi Stuart, competing as an individual, tied for 14th individually.

Butler linebacker Brayton Spetter contributed three tackles to Butler football’s 40-6 win against Morehead State.

Franklin College dropped a 24-14 decision to Rose-Hulman despite receiver Owen Wright making seven catches for 85 yards.

Hillsdale football notched its first win of the season, a 14-13 decision at Northwood that included junior defensive back Matt Soderdahl making seven tackles and breaking up a pass.

Whiteland

Junior Claire Overfelt finished 63rd in a time of 20:58.75 to help the Indiana women’s cross country team place ninth at the Sean Earle Lakefront Invitational.

Freshman Tori Jackson was Ball State’s fifth-fastest performer, placing 91st, as the Cardinals’ women’s cross country squad finished fifth of 23 teams at Notre Dame’s Joe Piane Invite.

Greenwood

Manchester University women’s volleyball defeated Hanover College in four sets, with fifth-year senior Joy Maze contributing 15 kills and two service aces.

Junior linebacker Gavin Ruppert picked up a team-high eight tackles, including three for loss, as the Wabash College football team won at the College of Wooster, 55-19. Freshman teammate Tanner Crouch, also a linebacker, added two tackles for the Little Giants.

The Wabash College offense line, which includes senior Cameron Ford, earned D3 Football Team of the Week honors after its 55-19 defeat of Wooster.

Hanover College junior Conner Watson placed 209th overall in 27:03.46 as the men’s cross country team finished in 27th place out of 36 teams at the Pre-National Division III meet.

Indian Creek

Anderson University women’s golf placed fifth of 10 teams at the Beaver Fall Classic, with sophomore Hannah Emenhiser tying for 24th individually with scores of 90 and 94.

Sophomore quarterback Arjun Lothe completed three of four passes for 45 yards in Indiana Wesleyan’s 39-7 victory over St. Xavier.

Grace College junior men’s golfer Braxton Christie fired a 78 to help his squad place seventh out of 20 teams at the Ken Venturi Invitational.

Greenwood Christian

Franklin College kicker Charlie Overton averaged 45.3 yards on his three kickoffs in the football team’s 24-14 loss at Rose-Hulman.
