Paving project to restrict traffic at Whiteland Road, CR 144 roundabout

There will be daytime traffic restrictions for a paving project on one of the Whiteland Road roundabouts in Bargersville.

The Howard Companies, a contractor hired by the Johnson County Highway Department, is planning to begin a milling and asphalt paving project Monday at the Whiteland Road and County Road 144 roundabout. The project is expected to take four days, weather permitting.

There will be daytime restrictions, but no road closure is planned. Since there is no closure, there is also no signed detour. The roundabout will remain open with one-lane flagging. The highway department advises motorists to expect delays.

The layout of this roundabout will require phased construction activities and a fluid traffic control plan. Drivers should follow all flagger instructions, stay alert, drive slowly, and use caution, according to the highway department.

The project is part of the county’s annual road maintenance program.
