Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of Oct. 14

Work continues on the southside as construction crews work to complete the I-69 Finish line project.

On Interstate 465, drivers should intermittent single and double right-lane closures on westbound and eastbound lanes 5 between Interstates 70 and 65 starting Monday and lasting through Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for median work, cleanup and paving activities. Traffic will also be reduced to one lane on westbound and eastbound I-465 between Meridian Street and Madison Avenue starting Monday and lasting through Wednesday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for barrier wall removal and lane-shift operations, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation project update.

Additionally, INDOT officials say the entrance ramp from U.S. 31 southbound to I-465 eastbound will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, westbound I-465 between I-65 and Meridian Street will be reduced to a single lane for concrete patching work. Entrance ramps from I-65 northbound and southbound to I-465 westbound will be closed during this time too, according to INDOT.

INDOT officials also want to remind drivers that the western half of the Harding Street/I-465 interchange remains closed until late November. This work includes ramp reconstruction for the eastbound I-465 exit ramp to Harding Street, and the Harding Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465.

The southbound U.S. 31/East Street entrance ramp to westbound I-465 remains closed into late 2024 as well, officials say.

As for I-69, single right-lane closures are planned on Southport Road at Belmont Avenue and Winslet Way starting Tuesday and continuing through Friday for traffic signal work.

INDOT is also reminding drivers that the speed limit along I-69 between State Road 144 and Fairview Road is now 55 mph in Johnson County. However, in Johnson and Marion Counties, speed limits are still reduced throughout most of the I-69 Finish Line corridor. Drivers should follow all posted speed limits as construction work continues through the remainder of 2024, officials say.

All construction work is weather-dependent. More information can be found by going to i69finishline.com.
