Eleonore Michaela Harle

INDIANAPOLIS

Eleonore M. Harle, 92 of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024. She was born to the late Michael and Anna Jungbauer.

She is survived by her son Hans (Heather) Harle; grandson Reece Harle and four siblings Margot (Karl) Berghofer, Marlene (Helmut) Frisch, Eckehardt Jungbauer and Adolf (Katy Vincent) Jungbauer. She is preceded in death by both parents; husband Johann “Hans” Harle and three sisters Inge (Louis) Pick, Irene (Norbert) Loose, and Gerdi (Robert) de Moncuit.

Eleonore was born in Munich, 1932. The second of eight children, “Lore” would often be described as a social butterfly. Her love of nature directed her to an apprenticeship as a florist. Her outgoing personality allowed her to find work as an actress and model in Germany. WIth a strong sense of Wanderlust, travel was a must for Lore. Having crossed the Atlantic several times by ship, Lore would eventually call Chicago home. A supportive group of friends and family helped Lore settle into a new city. Lore met Johann, “Hans”, in Chicago, marrying in 1967. Their son, Hans, was born in 1971. A few years later, they would move to Indianapolis due to Hans’ employment at World Wide Motors. Being the social butterfly, Lore created friendships that would last throughout her life. Lore’s husband passed away in 1988 after several grueling years of cancer treatment. With her husband deceased and son grown up, Lore went back to her love of floristry working at several southside locations. Volunteering was important to Lore, always finding time to assist at the Children’s Museum, Hunger Inc, and for several other causes. Lore loved and adored her grandson, Reece. Every visit to Oma’s house would include some educational component regarding music, art, nature, or history. Lore had the energy and optimism of a much younger person, still driving a manual transmission at the age of 92. Her love and commitment to others will not be forgotten, nor easily replaced.

Lore passed away in the presence of friends and family.
