The Johnson County Commissioners are seeking applicants to serve on 14 county boards next year.
Terms for the boards begin Jan. 1, 2025. To apply for one of the open board seats, fill out the Board Appointment Interest Form by visiting the county’s website at co.johnson.in.us, clicking on “How Do I …” and then clicking on “Apply … to be on a board.”
The completed form needs to be emailed to [email protected] by Oct. 31.
Here’s what boards have openings:
Alcohol Beverage Commission Board (one board member, one-year term): Applicants must be 21 and older, a bona fide resident of Johnson County for at least five years immediately preceding the appointment, and not convicted of a felony.
Community Corrections Advisory Board – Layperson (two board members, four-year term): Applicants must be a Johnson County resident.
Convention, Visitor, and Tourism Board (two board members, two-year term): Applicants must be a Johnson County resident, or an owner or executive level employee of a convention, visitor or tourism business located in Johnson County.
Drainage Board (one board member, three-year term): Applicants must be resident freeholder of Johnson County and knowledgeable in drainage matters.
Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Library Board (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must be a resident in Johnson County and lived within the library district for at least two years.
Human Services Inc. Board – Public Representative (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must be a resident of Johnson County.
Johnson County Park Board (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must be a resident of Johnson County.
Plan Commission (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must have voted the same party affiliation in the last two primary elections or has not voted in any Indiana primary elections and can be certified by the Republican or Democratic party chair; and be a resident of an unincorporated area of Johnson County or a resident of Johnson County who is also an owner of real property located in whole or in part in an unincorporated area of Johnson County.
Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA) – Level II or III Assessor-Appraiser & Freeholder (one board member, one-year term): Applicants must own property in Johnson County and must have voted the same party affiliation in the last two primary elections or have not voted in any Indiana primary elections and can be certified by the Republican or Democratic party chair; be knowledgeable in the valuation of property and, if possible, be a certified level two or level three assessor-appraiser; and cannot be an appraiser employed in Johnson County.
Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTABOA) – Freeholder (one board member, one-year term): Applicants must own property in Johnson County and must have voted the same party affiliation in the last two primary elections or has not voted in any Indiana primary elections and can be certified by the Republican or Democratic party chair; be knowledgeable in the valuation of property; and cannot be an appraiser employed in Johnson County.
Johnson County Redevelopment Commission – Non-voting Member (one board member, two-year term): Applicants must be a resident of Johnson County; and a member of a Johnson County school board or an individual recommended by a Johnson County school board.
Amity Fire Protection District Board – Needham Township (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must have knowledge and experience in matters pertaining to fire protection and related activities in the district and must reside within Amity Fire Protection District and Needham Township.
Bargersville Fire Protection District Board – Franklin Township (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must have knowledge and experience in matters pertaining to fire protection and related activities in the district and must reside within Bargersville Fire Protection District and Franklin Township.
White River Fire Protection District Board – White River Township (one board member, four-year term): Applicants must have knowledge and experience in matters pertaining to fire protection and related activities in the district and must reside within White River Fire Protection District and White River Township.
