Franklin College announces Launch Mentors

Franklin College’s Launch Program, an initiative designed to encourage success among first-year students, introduced the Launch Mentors for the 2024-2025 academic year. Launch Mentors are upperclassmen who have been chosen to promote academic, social and personal development for first-year students through support and guidance.

The local students chosen to be Launch Mentors include:

Franklin: Riley Shaff; Monica Velazquez-Cortes

Greenwood: Amy Garrido Portillo; Nicholas Whitecotten

Indianapolis: Celeste Edwards; Claire Sampson

Whiteland: Sarah Carpenter

Local resident named university concert choir

Anna Weber, a resident of Whiteland, was named to Bob Jones University’s Concert Choir. Weber is a sophomore majoring in Nursing.

The Concert Choir is one of BJU’s upper-level choirs comprised primarily of juniors and seniors. Auditions are held for new members every August and January before the start of each semester.

The choral artistry of the BJU Concert Choir is intended to nurture spiritual reflection in the hearts and minds of both the performers and the audience.

Located in Greenville, South Carolina, Bob Jones University provides an regionally accredited Christian liberal arts education purposely designed to inspire a lifelong pursuit of learning, loving and leading.
