Bubba’s 33 offers free meals for veterans

Bubba’s 33, located at, 7799 U.S. 31 S., Indianapolis, will continue its annual Veterans Day tradition of welcoming veterans and active U.S. military to enjoy a free lunch on Nov. 11. For veterans and active military unable to attend this year’s event, the restaurant will distribute raincheck vouchers, good through May 31, 2025.

All veterans – including active, retired or former U.S. military – can choose one of six entrees, including a classic cheeseburger, Bubba’s bacon burger, bacon chicken mac-n-cheese, grilled chicken salad, chicken tender salad or any 12-inch pizza plus a choice of any soda, tea or coffee during lunch. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers.

Surgeon honored with Healing Hands Award

Dr. Frederick Lane, a colon and rectal surgeon with Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Colon & Rectal Specialists, was named the latest winner of the Franciscan Health Healing Hands Award. Dr. Lane has practiced at Franciscan for over 35 years.

The Healing Hands Award recognizes physicians for excellence in clinical skills, patient relations, research, stewardship and reflection of the hospital’s ministry values and mission.

OrthoIndy announces alignment of practices

OrthoIndy and Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center, two of Indiana’s leading orthopedic practices, have signed a letter of intent for the purpose of aligning their two practices.

The new framework aims to combine the strengths of both practices and enhance their commitment to delivering unparalleled orthopedic care to the communities they serve while continuing to be national leaders in orthopedic research and the education and training of the next generation of orthopedic specialists.

Through the alignment, OrthoIndy and Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center will share operational resources to serve patients with the highest level of clinical expertise and experience, as well as an expanded geographic footprint. With OrthoIndy’s 12 locations in eight Central Indiana cities and Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center’s 10 locations across nine communities, patients are sure to receive the best possible treatment from a broad network of orthopedic specialists close to home.

There will be no immediate changes to current scheduling practices, physician availability or insurance processes. Integration will occur over time so that it does not disrupt patient care.

Community Health honored by AMA

Community Health Network has earned bronze-level recognition from the American Medical Association (AMA) as a Joy in Medicine health organization.

The distinction is granted to organizations that meet the criteria of the Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program and acknowledges the nation’s leaders in prioritizing proven efforts to enhance the well-being and professional fulfillment of physicians.

Community created the Center for Physician Well-Being and Development as a way to support physicians as people while developing and empowering them to improve care processes. Indiana American Water provides financial assistance programs

Indiana American Water offers customers several financial assistance options to help pay their bill. Sometimes finances are stretched thin, and it can be hard to get back on track once an account falls behind.

Below is a listing of American Water’s customer assistance programs:

  • Affordability rate for the first 1,500 gallons: It allows for customers who use up to 1,500 gallons per month to pay a flat fee of $20 per month for a residential customer with a 5/8” meter. Water use beyond 1,500 gallons per month will incur a volumetric charge after the $20 per meter charge.
  • Installment plans: In some cases, we may be able to offer customers an installment plan to extend the time customers have to pay a past due balance.
  • Payment arrangements: If customers are unable to pay their bill by the due date, they can visit MyWater to review payment plan options or contact Indiana American Water’s customer service center before the due date to work with them to determine payment arrangements that may be available.
  • Budget billing: A free service that is available to eligible residential customers. The program provides predictable monthly payments.
  • Preferred due date: Eligible customers can request to adjust their due date.
