Girls basketball

About the only thing that hasn’t changed at Greenwood Christian are the expectations.

Katie Egenolf’s senior volleyball season at Center Grove wasn’t feeling all that Center Grove-like at first.

Greenwood’s girls basketball team has made a point of emphasizing defense this season, and despite coming into Tuesday night with a three-game losing streak, the Woodmen have been putting in the work at that end of the floor.

Up 45-14 going into halftime on Tuesday evening, one would think Center Grove’s girls basketball team would have eased up. But the host Trojans didn’t let up, only allowing two points the whole second half and blowing out Edinburgh 78-16 in the first round of the Johnson County tournament.

On Tuesday night, Greenwood Christian’s gymnasium doubled as the launching pad to a potential matchup against the state’s fifth-ranked team in Class 4A.

Even with everything Edinburgh accomplished last season, it’s what the Lancers didn’t do that remains lodged in the team’s collective craw.
