Here’s a question:

I have served on the Eastern Bartholomew Water Corporation for 15 years and as president for the last six years.

I am tired of celebrating the 100th anniversary of this, or the 75th anniversary of that. What makes those numbers so special? I told Mary Ellen I had big plans in a few years for our 53rd anniversary “Great, “ she said, “but what about our 50th? I’m sure you have even bigger plans for that one.”

For many high school and college seniors, this time of year can feel like the final hundred yards of a marathon. The last exam has been taken, the graduation robe has been pressed, the party given by proud parents is set to begin, and, in some cases, tearful goodbyes have been given to friends and favorite teachers.

In the pantheon of writings about Congress, California Rep. Katie Porter’s new book will almost certainly draw attention for her unvarnished takes on the institution and her colleagues. In “I Swear: Politics is Messier Than My Minivan,” Porter finds plenty of targets, including her fellow House members, staffers, lobbyists — and how a seat in Congress is increasingly out of reach for ordinary Americans.

The Indiana General Assembly adjourned its 2023 session April 28. This session was marked with some important advancements along with some disappointments in medically related legislation. Here is my take from the perspective of a family physician and former public health official.
