Mary Ellen and I went out to see a movie last week with our friends Bob and Cathy.

We had quite the pirate adventure over the weekend.

We’d like to send hearts out to all those that sponsored, donated, volunteered and bought a lemon shake-up!

The vintage train car was packed, so my friend and I had to sit facing a 20s-something man and his female companion as we headed back to Connersville from a tourist trip to Metamora, the historic canal town in southeastern Indiana.

Earlier this year, I renewed a friendship from more than 40 years ago. I can’t remember which of us initiated the contact, but it has been a joy to chat back and forth even if it is only by email. Then, this past week, a friend from more than 50 years ago found my contact information on the internet and reached out.

From teachers and librarians to auto mechanics and grocery clerks, Johnson County is home to countless hardworking Hoosiers.

Summer is in full swing, and the days are still hot, but it is time for Johnson County students, teachers and administrators to return to school. Some students will have their very first, first day of school, while others will have their last, first day. Some teachers have their first day at a new school, while others will be returning after the summer break. The Johnson County Public Library is here to help, regardless of the circumstances.
