FRANKLIN
Margaret Elizabeth (Gray) Wheatley, 91 of Franklin, Indiana, passed away early Monday morning, April 15, 2024. She was a longtime resident of Franklin, Indiana where she lived on her own until February of this year. She previously resided in Beech Grove and Sweetwater Lake in Nineveh, Indiana.
She was born on May 1, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Clarence Earl Gray, Sr. and Hildred Anna (Lottick) Gray. She married Norvel E. Wheatley on August 10, 1951. Margaret is survived by children, Cheryl Fisher (Michael) of New Palestine, Indiana and Kevin Wheatley (Becky) of Martinsville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Matt Wheatley (Amy), Jake Wheatley (Liz), Heather Neuner (Mike), Nick Fisher (Abbey), Abby Maddox (Nick), Ross Wheatley (Natalie) and Jordan Wheatley (Matt Curry); sixteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Cantrell. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Norvel; son, Steven Wheatley and siblings, Jessie Glover, Georgia Ayris, Earl Gray and Hazel McPhillips.
Margaret was employed by Amtrak in the Human Resources Department in Beech Grove for thirty years, retiring on January 6, 1989.
She was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and a 50 year member of the Beech Grove Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Margaret was involved in her class Alumni at Beech Grove High School for 74 years, continuing until her passing.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with Rev. Evie Stuard conducting a service on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
