Wayne Claud Jackson

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.

Wayne Claud Jackson, 91, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Brodhead, Rockcastle County, Kentucky to Oscar Jackson and Lucille Beatrice (Benge) Jackson Shackleford.

Wayne married Geraldine Opal (Turner) Jackson on October 11, 1956, in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on October 1, 1990. He was a United States Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War being honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.

Wayne had been an electrician “A” for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN from 1968 until retiring in 1993. He was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge #720 in Indianapolis, IN and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, IN. Wayne and his late wife Geraldine enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Fireball Square Dance Club.

Survivors include his children Kevin J. Jackson (Jill) of Trafalgar, IN, Kathleen V. Hittle (Eugene) of Anderson, IN and Kenneth W. Jackson (Susan) of Windsor, NJ, his grandchildren Stephen Jackson (Katie), Daniel Jackson, Melissa Jackson, Ami Hawkins (Dea), Amber Hittle, Jordan Jackson (Annie), Isaac Jackson (Shelby), great-grandchildren Dakota Jackson, Cohen Jackson, De’Onna Hawkins, Riley Jackson and Peyton Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, friend Barb Shirley, grandchildren Angel Hittle and April Hittle.

Pastor Brian Clark will conduct a service on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/waynejackson. Friends may call Monday, May 6, 2024, from 11AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial with full military honors being conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will follow the service at Acton Cemetery in Acton, IN.
