Rhynettia “Nettie” Kite

FRANKLIN

Born in 1928, Nettie (Thompson) Kite, 95, was known by nearly all as “a hugger.” She loved everyone, and persons of all ages received her hugs and gentle kisses.

Living nearly all her life since the 1930’s in Greenwood, this Hart County Kentucky native was the glue which held her large and extended family together. She was the 60 year devoted wife of Bert, and the mother of five – Penny(Ken), Bert(Deb), Pam, Paul(Jackie), Tom(Ruthie). And as the oldest daughter, Nett cared for her mother and siblings in their times of need.

In addition to passionately loving her family, she showered her love on others through her church and her many friends and neighbors.

Like many, her grandchildren gave her much joy, and they created the inspiration she needed to make each of them multiple quilts. Her beloved Grandchildren are: Nettie, Don(Deceased), Corrie, B.J, Matt, Tom, Gabe, Abi, Kassi, Nikki, Ezra, and Blake; 26 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Nett and husband Bert had a deep and abiding faith in Christ which guided their family. They were leaders and active members of

Greenwood United Methodist Church since 1950, serving in many

capacities and living their faith through caring for others as well as a

special passion for serving the City of Greenwood.

Ever the tireless worker and friend, she was a neat and tidy homemaker, friend and party arranger who often opened her large old home to parties, family gatherings and even a wedding or two. She had a tender caring heart, and was a soul for whom laughter and joy in life came easily. Bert & Nett also enjoyed 20 winters in Port Charlotte, Florida.

She gently passed in her sleep at Otterbein Franklin Senior Living on April 27, 2024, receiving the love and care from many caregivers

who kept her laughing and hugging until the Lord called her home.
