Margaret Elaine (Brown) Sharp, age 82, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at her residence in Franklin.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1932, in Lawrence County to Winford and Claudia (Williams) Brown. She married Harley Sharp. He preceded her in passing.
Margaret is survived by children, Claudia Ellen (Ed) Jordan of Franklin; Ronald Eugene (Nancy) Sharp of Amity; Richard Earl (Debbie) Sharp of Morgantown; Marilyn Ethyl (Steve) South of Rockford, Illinois; Janet Elaine (Jeff) Hoffman of Franklin, Alice Eileen (Andy) Johnson of Florida and Donovan (Shirley) Sharp of Florida. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Brian Cummings.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Winford and Claudia Brown; stepmothers, Muriel Tucker and Geneva Brown; husband, Harley; daughter, Phyllis Cummings and stepson, Gary Sharp.
Margaret was a graduate of Franklin High School.
She was employed as a telephone operator with United Telephone Company. She later was the seamstress for Benzol Cleaners and later Sparkle Cleaners, both in Franklin, for several years. She was the cashier for 50 years at Franklin Auction.
She was a member of First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Margaret was a involved in Girl Scouts for 25 years, holding various adult leadership roles. She enjoyed reading, quilting and collecting music boxes, coffee cups and bells.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
