Betty P. Bailey
Betty P. (Zink) Bailey, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, Aug. 28, 2014, at Greenwood Meadows Senior Community. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Morgantown.
Betty was born in Morgan County on May 17, 1928, to her parents, the late Leonard Oliver and Mabel E. (Mann) Zink.
She married James M. “Jim” Bailey on May 21, 1946, in Morgantown. He preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1997, after 51 devoted years of marriage.
Together Betty and Jim raised two daughters, Judy (Jerry) Berry of Indianapolis and Janice Wasson of Bloomington. She will be remembered by her siblings, Larry (Nancy) Zink of Phoenix and Don (Gloria) Zink of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Jim (Qiana) Berry of Indianapolis, Todd (Kristi) Wasson of Ellettsville and Julie (Robert) Melton of
Southport; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Cole Berry and Bailey and Adam Wasson.
Betty was a loving homemaker and worked as a clerk for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) in Nashville from 1967 to 1987.
She was very active in her community. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Morgantown, Brown County Homemakers and Hopeful Planters Garden Club. She was a Brown County 4-H leader and member of the Fruitdale Volunteer Fire Department, Ding-a-Ling Square Dancers, Rough Riders Saddle Club, and the Brown County and Nineveh senior citizens centers.
She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
