Alice L. ‘Susie’ Dragoo

FRANKLIN

Alice L. “Susie” Dragoo, 89, of the Amity community near Franklin, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Greenwood to Earl and Velma (Hammond) Harmon.

She married William Dragoo on March 24, 1945, in Whiteland; and he survives.

She was a 1943 graduate of Whiteland High School and a longtime member of Amity Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.

She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans and doilies. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She farmed alongside her husband.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, William Dragoo of Franklin; a son, Michael Dragoo (Carolyn S.) of Franklin; a daughter, Jo Ellen Edwards (Larry) of Franklin; five grandchildren, Sheri Spall of Franklin, Brandi Zwissler (Tom) of Greenwood, Courtney Dragoo of Franklin, Jenny Margason (Bill) of Greenwood and Stacey Edwards of Franklin; three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Tyler and Samantha Margason; three brothers, Frank Harmon (Jean) of Greenwood, Richard Harmon (Kalynn) of Franklin and Charles “Buster” Harmon (Charlene) of Greenwood; two sisters, Helen Kissee of Greenwood and Faye Hayes (Charles) of Shelbyville; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Harmon of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fred Harmon; three sisters, Patty Harmon, Nancy Ledger and Mary Logsdon; and a brother-in-law, Archie.

The Rev. Doug Brown will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
