Norman E. Facemire

FRANKLIN

Norman E. Facemire, 88, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Greenwood.

He was born June 27, 1927, in Shelby County to Donald E. and Pauline (Vest) Facemire.

He married Bernice L. (Hommel) Decker Facemire on Aug. 30, 2003, at Amity Baptist Church; she survives.

He was a farmer for more than 50 years in Johnson and Shelby counties. He also owned and operated Facemire Trenching for several years.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a 1945 graduate of Mount Auburn High School in Shelby County.

He was a member of Sugar Creek Masonic Lodge 279 in Fairland. He had served as a school board member of Northwestern Consolidated Schools of Shelby County. He was a member of Amity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice L. (Hommel) Decker Facemire of Franklin; a daughter, Mary A. Facemire of Franklin; two sons, Jim R. Facemire (Connie Asher Facemire) of Franklin and John E. Facemire of Columbus; six grandchildren, Ryan Facemire (Julie) of Franklin, Hollie Whaley of Greenwood, Chad Facemire of Franklin, Kyle Riddle of Greenwood, Dustin Facemire of Whiteland and Kayla Facemire of Whiteland; six great-grandchildren, Aleis, Angel, Aylin, Brayden, Landon and Nolan; a sister, Jessie Miller of Shelbyville; two stepdaughters, Pam Poff (Rick) of Edinburgh and Sherry Holley (Terry) of Trafalgar; eight stepgrandchildren; and several great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kate Clevenger and Janet Schmanski.

The Revs. Doug Brown and Ron Ellis will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Monday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
