Edmund L. Tyner

INDIANAPOLIS

Edmund L. Tyner, 86, of Indianapolis, entered eternal life on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015.

He was married for 36 years to his high school sweetheart, Ruth Wanda Miller, with whom he raised three children. She passed away in 1984.

In 1986, he married Elnetta M. Bodine, who died in 2014.

He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne in Germany during World War II and received the Victory Medal.

Ed was retired from a longtime career at Indiana Bell/Ameritech, in which he distinguished himself as an engineer.

In addition, his church affiliation was Greenwood Christian Church.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eva Marie Petersen Tyner; brothers, Norman and Bill; sister, Marie Tyner Weir; nephew, Jerry Weir; and niece, Shirley Weir.

Survivors include his three children, Gary (Linda) Tyner, David Tyner and Karen (Tom) Wolsiffer; grandchildren, Jeff, Jamie, Brittany and Hannah Tyner, Nicki (Brett) Little, Natalie (Scott) Forehand and Andy (Candace) Wolsiffer; niece, Sally (Bob) Lee; nephews, Tom (Patti) Weir, Bill (Bonnie) Weir and Jim (Judy) Weir; great-grandchildren, Itali, Camaira, Brayden, Kiley, Addyson, Caleb, Riley and Dalton. He also is survived by four stepdaughters, Sherry Stover, Linda (Ron) Coy, Anita (Dave) Walton and Becky (Tim) Munger; as well as nine respective grandchildren from the Bodine Family.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flanner and Buchanan–Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Per the wishes of their father, the family has requested casual attire.
