Edward L. Fischer

FRANKLIN, IN.

Edward L. Fischer, 82, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 after bravely battling a long-term lung disease.

Born on December 20th, 1941, in Indianapolis, IN to Bonnie Lee Fischer and Florence Fischer (Hutson), Ed was a proud alumnus of Broad Ripple High School. He found love early in life, marrying his high school sweetheart, Jeanie Fischer (Eickhorst).

Though he initially pursued studies at Purdue University, Ed’s career path led him to the banking industry. He dedicated 35 years of service to banking, getting his start at Indiana National Bank before its acquisition, forging lasting connections with colleagues and customers he cherished.

In 1981, Ed and Jeanie purchased a home on 82 acres in Franklin, Indiana, where they raised their three children, Lori, Lance, and Lyndsey. Ed took great pride in his farm, sharing its beauty with family, friends, and visitors, often taking them on rides through its picturesque landscape and sharing stories about the “mum” field, Jeanie’s flower business and his grandkids.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Lee Fischer and Florence Fischer (Hutson). He is survived by his sisters Linda Hurt of Crawfordsville, IN, Karen Bray (Mike) of Linden, IN, Leesa Frank (Chris) of Orlando, FL, and brother Steven York of Zionsville, IN. He also leaves behind his loving wife Jeanie (Eickhorst) Fischer of Franklin, IN, daughters Lori Shaver (Ken) of Crawfordsville, IN, Lyndsey Fischer (Pete Scott) of Indianapolis, IN, son Lance Fischer of Franklin, IN, and his beloved grandchildren, Samuel Shaver (Maddie), Holly Shaver, Lucy Fischer, Aiden Scott, and Reilly Scott. Ed was also quite fond of all the “critters” as he called them, and will especially miss Gracie, Lance’s Boston Terrier.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, Ed’s ashes will be scattered on the sledding hill of the family farm, a place that held deep meaning for him, while his favorite songs play in remembrance.

Special thanks to Paradigm Health and the wonderful care they provided for Ed.
