The Franklin College women’s basketball team lost its nonconference finale 57-48 to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Tuesday in the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic at DePauw University.
Senior Katie Brewer led Franklin with 10 points and eight rebounds. Junior Lauren DeSutter added eight points.
Franklin (7-3) scored the final 12 points of the first quarter to hold a 16-9 advantage. Wisconsin-Eau Claire (5-6) turned the tables in the second quarter by outscoring the Grizzlies 20-8.
In the second half, Franklin got within four points, at 50-46, following a jumper by Brewer with 2:32 left in the contest.
That was as close as the team would get in the final minutes. Wisconsin-Eau Claire made seven of its eight free-throw attempts down the stretch to secure the victory.
