It’s ‘berry’ good!

<p>It’s strawberry shortcake time again.</p>
<p>Memorial Day weekend opens with time-honored dessert Friday in Franklin during the Strawberries on the Square festival, starting at 11 a.m.</p>
<p>Volunteers will serve cake, ice cream, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a bottle of water for $5 on the courthouse lawn.</p>
<p>The festival will include the Lions Club Fish Fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the parking lot at Water and Monroe streets. The meal for $6.50 includes a fried fish sandwich or pork tenderloin; sides of potato salad, homemade baked beans and cole slaw are $1 each, and variety of desserts, soft drinks, coffee and water. Eat in the tent or take it with you. Carryout will be available.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]
<p>Evening activities include a classic car cruise-in at 5 p.m. on North Main Street, kids activities, live music and the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” at the Artcraft Theatre at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.</p>
<p>Live music will play throughout the day with the last musical performance from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. The annual garage sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the parking lot on North Main Street across from the Historic Artcraft Theatre. Proceeds benefit the Artcraft Theatre Teen Scholarship Fund.</p>
