May unemployment rate down

<p>Fewer people were out of work last month, when compared to the same time period last year.</p>
<p>In May, the county’s unemployment rate was 3.6 percent, a drop from a rate of 4.1 percent in May 2015.</p>
<p>The rate also was down from the previous month this year, when unemployment was 4 percent in April, according to a report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.</p>
<p>Across central Indiana, unemployment rates were down last month, with most at or below 4 percent.</p>
<p>At the same time, the labor force has continued to grow.</p>
<p>In Johnson County, the labor force was more than 79,000 people, compared to more than 77,000 a year ago, the report said.</p>
<p>And the number of people without work continues to fall, with about 2,800 out of work last month, compared to 3,200 last year, the report said.</p>[sc:pullout-title pullout-title="At a glance" ][sc:pullout-text-begin]<p>Here is a look at the unemployment rate last month, compared to the same time last year:</p>
