Jerry “Mickey” L. Eakins

<p>INDIANAPOLIS</p>
<p>Jerry “Mickey” L. Eakins, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Franciscan St. Francis Health–Indianapolis.</p>
<p>He was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Indianapolis, the son of Warren F. and Lessie M. (Parker) Eakins.</p>
<p>Jerry graduated from Harry E. Wood High School in 1967, then went on to become a journeyman electrician.</p>
<p>A member of both the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481 and United Auto Workers Local 23, he worked nearly 30 years at, and retired from, the General Motors stamping plant in Indianapolis.</p>
<p>He also belonged to the Greenwood Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864 Men’s Auxiliary.</p>
<p>Family and friends will greatly miss Jerry and remember him as a kind and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.</p>
<p>He is survived by sons Jeffrey W. Eakins of Knightstown, Joseph A. (Dana) Eakins of Indianapolis, and Nolan D. Eakins and Charles “Chuck” L. Eakins, both of Greenwood; grandsons, Willem J. and Silas J. Eakins; brother Jack (Barbara) Eakins of Anderson, sister, Cynthia (Mike) Friel of Noblesville; several nieces and nephews; special friend Paula Thomas of Greenwood; and former wives, Rita J. (Ken) Guhr of Carthage and Julie A. Bell of Greenwood.</p>
<p>In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his twin brother, Gary Eakins, and by a sister, Frances D. (Bill) Gray.</p>
<p>Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &amp; Crematory-Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or charity of choice.</p>
