Howard. W. Hunter, 89, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016.

He was born April 14, 1927, in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Mary Gertrude (Jamison) Hunter.

Howard was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was a floor covering salesman for many years.

He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Greenwood American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

He was an avid electric train enthusiast, and he loved to work around his swimming pool.

Howard married the love of his life, the former Ada M. McCoy, on July 27, 1947, and she preceded him in death Jan. 26, 2010.

He is survived by his sons, Howard W. (Trish) Hunter II of Kingman, Arizona, David W. (Kathy) Hunter of Indianapolis and Daniel P. (Kim) Hunter of Trafalgar; brother-in-law, Jack Nixon of Torrence, California; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Elaine Nixon.

Funeral services will be at noon Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
