Girls soccer

Whiteland overwhelms Cascade

Katie Evans scored three goals and Madison Hill added two as Whiteland rolled past Cascade on Monday, 7-0.

Jenny Gonzalez posted a clean sheet in goal for the Warriors, who also got a goal and an assist from both Hedda Johnsrud and Madisyn Proctor.

Trojans post shutout victory

Athena Passafiume scored twice to help lead Center Grove to a 5-0 triumph against Lawrence Central.

Ella Thompson and Morgan Martin split the shutout in goal. Kelli Hippenmeyer, Gracyn Montfort and Megan Perry each found the back of the net once for the Trojans (2-0), who face three ranked opponents in the next five days — No. 3 Brebeuf awaits Wednesday night, and No. 4 Avon and No. 7 Castle are on the schedule Saturday.

Rebels edged by Guerin

Despite goals from Morgan Kincaid and Josie Asher, Roncalli suffered a 3-2 loss against Guerin Catholic on Monday. Kelly Grube had an assist in defeat.

Boys tennis

Trojans edge Terre Haute South

Thanks to a trio of three-set victories, Center Grove pulled out a 3-2 victory against Terre Haute South on Tuesday.

Nic Ballesteros came from a set down to win at No. 2 singles, while Akul Vijay was triumpant at No. 3 singles. At first doubles, Eli-Lawyer Smith and Mitch Runkle came back after losing the first set 6-0 to claim the final two.

Warriors cruise past Decatur Central

Whiteland rolled to a 5-0 win against Decatur Central in its Mid-State Conference opener, winning every match without dropping a game.

The Warriors (3-1) got singles wins from Caleb Scott, Adam Zietlow and Garrison Pelfree. Corey Ullrich and Noah Thomson won at No. 1 doubles, while Grant Cloud and Nolan Lee rolled at No. 2.

Woodmen win handily

Greenwood lost just eight games overall in posting a 5-0 win against Southport.

Jacob Gray, Jack O’Reilly and Grant Bryant were victorious in their respective singles matches. Alex Walsh and Jacob Gray won at first doubles, while the No. 2 duo of Eric Moenkhaus and Ben Sobieray was also a winner.

Lancers fall to Morristown

Coltan Henderson was the lone victor for Edinburgh in a 4-1 loss against Morristown on Monday, winning in straight sets at No. 1 singles.

The Lancers’ No. 2 doubles team of Ryan Gaston and Braden McManaway lost a tight battle in three sets, 6-7, 6-2, 10-6.

Rebels shut out by HSE

It was a tough day on the road for Roncalli, which suffered a 5-0 defeat at Hamilton Southeastern.

Whiteland sweeps at home

Audrey Eckart earned medalist honors with a 43 as Whiteland coasted to victory against University and Greenwood Christian at The Legends on Monday.

Bri Harwell added a 45 for the Warriors, followed by Rachel Giroud (51), Kierra Mitchell (54) and Allie Watson (56).

Roncalli second in three-way

The Roncalli girls finished second in a three-way match Tuesday with a score of 197, 39 shots behind Carmel but 58 strokes better than Warren Central.

Annie Sullivan paced the Rebels with a 43, while Sophia Egold added a 47.

Franklin drops a pair

Taylor Drake shot a 47, but Franklin still finished on the bottom end of a three-way match with Martinsville and Columbus East.

Kristina Young and Avery Auton finished at 50 and 51, respectively, for the Grizzly Cubs, who totaled 208 to end up 39 strokes behind the Artesians and 17 back of the Olympians.

Cross-country

GCA girls claim victory

Greenwood Christian Academy hosted a Hokum Karem meet Saturday and came away with a first-place finish on the girls side. The duo of Anna Subris and Anna Simons won in a combined time of 46 minutes and 1 second.

International won the boys race.
