Local residents lined up early for the opening of a new Kroger store they have long awaited.
Susanne Miller, who lives in the Center Grove area, came to check out the store after her night shift was over. Arriving at 7:30 a.m., she was one of the first 100 people in line.
As a frequent Kroger shopper, she said the location at Smokey Row Road and State Road 135 is more convenient for her.
Despite having another Kroger store about 4 miles north on State Road 135 and another less than 4 miles northeast on U.S. 31, Kroger officials said the $22.4 million, 100,000-square-foot store is necessary to meet the growth in the Center Grove area.
