Football jerseys getting a special touch

Fans with a keen eye might notice something different about the Center Grove High School football team’s jerseys during the state championship game Friday evening.

Each of the Trojans players will have a black patch on the upper left chest of their jersey above their number. The patch will have the words “State Finals” above the Indiana High School Athletic Association logo.

This is the first year the IHSAA will be giving these patches out to each team playing in the football state finals.

The team was able to get someone to sew the patches on in time for the game, head coach Eric Moore said.

If players want to keep the patch after the game as a souvenir, they will be able to do so, Center Grove High School athletics director Jon Zwitt said.

Roncalli High School football players also will sport the badge during the Class 4A State Championship game Friday.
