Letter: Center Grove had memorable season

To the editor:

I was one of the many Center Grove fans attending the state finals at Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 25. While the loss to Carmel was shocking and still hard to accept, I want to focus on all the positives of this past season.

It’s easy to be supportive of a team that is always winning, but their winning record is not what made this team special.

What made this last season memorable for me was watching boys like Tyler Boyer and Parker Ferguson make their first touchdowns; watching Titus McCoy sidelined with injury, still doing what he can do to fire up the crowd. Watching newcomer Russ Yeast amaze us with his superb ability to run the ball. Enjoying the fireworks after each CG touchdown. Watching the school pride and energy of the CG cheerleaders.

And, oh yes, the fans. Center Grove fans are unsurpassed when it comes to their devotion to their football teams.

I have watched many of these young men play sports together since childhood, and the bonds they have formed will last a lifetime. Good luck to all of the departing seniors. Your time has given this fan much to smile about. I feel privileged to have been a spectator.
