Teenager gets stitches after fight at gas station

One teenager needed stitches and another was taken to the juvenile detention center after a fight in Franklin that was caught on video.

Franklin police were called to the Johnson Memorial Hospital emergency room at 6 p.m. Tuesday, where a 14-year-old boy was being treated for injuries he received in a fight that afternoon.

The teen told police he and a group of other boys had walked to a gas station on Jefferson Street at 3:30 p.m. when another boy punched him in the face multiple times and then kicked him in the ribs, the report said. Another teen who was with them took a video of the fight, the report said. The 14-year-old needed three stitches, doctors told police.

Police spoke with other teens who were there for the fight and got the video. The boy who hit the 14-year-old told police he had heard a rumor that the other teen was going to beat him up and rob him, the report said. Police took him to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.
