Letter: President simply trying to keep Americans safe

To the editor:

Currently, ISIS is taking advantage of western government’s generosity towards refugees to infiltrate the United States and Europe. An operative of ISIS has revealed, and I believe, that the terror group has infiltrated the droves of refugees flowing into Western lands.

Former CIA Director John Brennan along with NATO Commander Philip Breedlove have since substantiated such claims.

Senator Jeff Sessions has tabulated a list of 19 refugees and one Iraqi Special Immigration Visa recipient who have been associated with terrorism on American soil, yet the left is completely disregarding this information.

Members of the left rather risk another ISIS attack on U.S. soil than risk the chance that they will be labeled as discriminatory by their leftist brethren.

In 2011, President Barack Obama stopped processing Iraq refugees for a period of six months but I don’t recall the left protesting in mass over the actions taken by Obama then nor do I recall the left protesting in mass over the 26,171 bombs Obama dropped on predominantly Muslim countries in 2016.

Likewise, Obama’s interventionist foreign policy in Syria and Libya helped facilitate the current refugee crisis so where was the left’s moral outrage when he and Secretary Clinton were destroying those countries?

Immigrant Tashfeen Malik, who killed 14 people and injured 22 others in San Bernardino, California, was born in Pakistan. Omar Mateen, whose parents emigrated to the U.S. from Afghanistan, killed 49 people and severely injured 49 more. Somali refugee Abdul Ali Artan drove a car into a crowd at Ohio State University injuring 11.

These are the grisly episodes that President Donald Trump is trying stop with proper vetting. Today, there are Americans permanently maimed, who are forever confined to a wheelchair, their injuries forcing them to live in a reclusive state, every waking moment they suffer mentally, their lives now all but destroyed due to the left’s “generous” immigration policies. How is Trump evil for trying to put an end to such injustice?

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, it costs $12,874 to resettle a refugee in the U.S., but only $1,057 to resettle a refugee in the Middle East. From this cost analysis, we can see the Democrat policy of accepting thousands of refugees into the United States is in effect forcing hundreds of thousands of refugees to remain in dire peril.

The most cost effective use of U.S. dollars would be to finance the relocation of refugees within Middle Eastern territories enabling the United States to help a vastly greater number of refugees than what otherwise would be obtainable through relocations within the U.S.

The more we intervene in the Mideast, the more Islamist we import to the United States, the more probable it is we will suffer terrorist attacks. British journalist Milo Yiannopoulos recently remarked, “Every country deserves to have control of its border, and decide who is allowed to immigrate. Wanting this doesn’t make you racist, evil, or even particularly conservative.”

And Milo is right. I just wish the left could see it.
