Frank R. “Bud” Miller

Frank R. “Bud” Miller, 74, passed away peacefully in his home on May 5, 2017, in Indianapolis, after a long series of illnesses in recent years.

Bud is survived by his children, Greg (Karen) Miller and Stacia (Mike) Kelly; his companion of several years, Ann Bright; his sister, Sue Davis, and brothers, Bill Miller, George Miller, Mike Miller and Dave Miller. He had seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Birdie Miller; and two brothers, Jim Miller and Andy Miller.

Bud grew up on his family’s farm on Homestead Road near Bean Blossom and graduated from Helmsburg High School in 1961 before attending Indiana State University.

Bud established himself as a natural in retail and sales when he was a buyer for L.S. Ayres in his early 20s, and during his time with Bud Howard and Associates and at Central Hardware.

He was employed by various companies and individuals throughout his life while consistently pursuing his hobbies of playing golf, following sports, and arguing politics. He navigated the challenges of life with social ease, lighthearted banter and a competitive nature.

A memorial service to honor Bud will be at 10 a.m. June 3 at Creekside Resort in Nashville. The resort, formerly Wabash Village Apartments, is located at 2450 State Road 46 at the corner of Salt Creek Road and State Road 46. Friends and family are invited to stay after the service for a time of light refreshments and visitation. There will be a brief graveside service at 1:30 p.m. on June 2 at Unity Cemetery just outside of Bean Blossom. The family will honor him with one final act of service by excavating by hand the grave where the ashes will be interred.
