Sarah Johnstone, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017. She was a resident of Whiteland.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Agnes (Logan) Brownlie.

She married Thomas Johnstone on Sept. 26, 1958, in Glasgow, Scotland. They shared 58 wonderful years of marriage together. She moved to the United States with her husband and children in 1967.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Alison Brunning (Charles) of Whiteland and Gillian DeWeese (Carl B.) of Whiteland; brother, James Brownlie (Liz) of Scotland, sister, Maureen Dow of Scotland; five grandchildren, Bradley Brunning, Sarah Brunning, Amanda Edwards, Christopher Johnstone and Benjamin DeWeese; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brenna and Riley.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Johnstone Jr.

Sarah was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Gigi. She was a wonderful person and was loved by all that knew her.

Over the years, Sarah worked part-time in retail at Petite Sophisticate and Casual Corner.

Sarah was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church for 40 years, where she had been a deacon and an elder. She also enjoyed working with the children’s ministries.

Calling hours will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. The Rev. Charles Stanley will officiate a funeral service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
