Evelyn E. Polley, 90, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018.

She was born to George and Zella (Felknor) Ferree in November 6, 1927 in Bloomington.

After high school, Evelyn married her lifetime sweetheart, Kenneth Polley Sr. on October 1, 1947. Evelyn spent her life as a homemaker, taking care of her children and grandchildren. Evelyn loved being with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She always loved to do cross word puzzles. She enjoyed feeding the birds and spending time in her garden. Evelyn was a member of Smith Valley Baptist church. She also attended 1st Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for many years.

Evelyn is survived by her seven children: Cheryl (David) Miller of Ellettsville, Denise (Bob) Blake of Whiteland, Janet Lentz of Franklin, Linda (Bill) Gale of Franklin, Brenda (Rick) Shipp of Whiteland, Kenny (Wendy) Polley Jr. of Whiteland, and Jill (Derrick) Shryock of Trafalgar; two sisters, Helen “Brummett” (Marshall) Shryock of Bloomington, and Jane (Dennis) Hamilton of Greenwood; one brother Herb (Lois) Ferree of Bloomington; 19 grandchildren, Andrew and Brett Miller, Marcus and Katie Blake, Heather and Nicole Lentz, Sara Strain, Evelyn Ryan, Billy and Hannah Gale, Ricky and Jason Shipp, Kenneth Polley III, Annie and Ellen Polley, Gavin and Aubrey Curry, Trent and Kayla Shryock; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 2016; her parents; a brother, Paul Ferree; sister, Wanda Jackson; a grandson, David Lentz; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Gale; and son-in-law, Steve Lentz.

A visitation will be Monday, Jan. 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service at 12:00 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. U.S. 31, Whiteland, IN 46184. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel.
