Center Grove robotics team earns bid to world competition

Members of Center Grove High School’s robotics team have earned a spot in a worldwide competition.

FIRST Robotics Team 1741 “Red Alert Robotics” have qualified for the FIRST Championship in Detroit later this month.

More than 700 teams from more than 80 countries are expected to compete, according to a news release from the team.

The robotics team was one of nine teams in Indiana to earn a spot at the world championships. Center Grove won a spot at the worldwide competition by earning the Chairman’s Award, an award given to robotics teams who work to honor FIRST’s mission of education and community support for robotics and STEM.

Teams are all given the same challenge and have six weeks to build a robot that will complete the challenge.
