Billy Ephriam Fiandt, 87, of Greenwood passed away April 22, 2018. He was born on February 10, 1931 to Dallas and Talitha (Gehring) Fiandt in Kendallville, Indiana. He graduated from Kendalville High School in 1949 and began college at Indiana University. In college he served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he earned two bronze stars. After his return Billy completed his undergraduate work and began his teaching career at Highland, Indiana. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education and Principal Certification. Bill educated for over 30 years, he spent the largest tenure of his career in Perry Township at Edgewood Grade School and Keystone Middle School. Previously he was Teaching Principal at Green Township in Noble County and Arcadia, and also enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball. He was an active member of Center United Methodist Church. Bill was a true gentleman and enhanced the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Beverly J. (Simon) Fiandt; sons Tod Fiandt (Jennifer Strawn) and Michael (Beth) Fiandt; step-children Brian Williams and Valerie Vashon; five grandchildren Jeremy, Christopher, Brent (Shelby), Erin, and Emma Fiandt; six step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings Max (Joy) Fiandt and Patnella Fawley; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents; first wife Marijune Ann Fiandt; siblings Dallas Fiandt and Gloria Deetz. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the mortuary.
