Softball

Clark perfect in Lancer win

Maddi Clark pitched a perfect game, striking out all 15 hitters she faced, and Edinburgh used a six-run fifth to put away Morristown, 12-0, on Thursday.

Abby Schooler and Emma Wade each had two hits and three RBIs for the Lancers (8-3, 6-1 Mid-Hoosier), while Sidney Beier scored two runs and drove in two.

Top-ranked Trojans coast

Center Grove pounded out 17 hits on the way to an easy 13-8 victory at Lawrence Central on Thursday. Alexis Rudd picked up the win for the Class 4A No. 1 Trojans (16-0).

Quakers blank Woodmen

Greenwood absorbed an 8-0 defeat at Plainfield on Thursday. Rachel Derf had two hits for the Woodmen.

Baseball

Grizzly Cubs hang on for win

Franklin stormed out to an eight-run lead and held on for an 8-7 victory at Martinsville on Thursday.

Jonah Rockey homered and scored three runs for the Grizzly Cubs (7-7, 3-3 Mid-State), while Tyce Miller was 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles.

Warriors hammer Hawks

Iyan Pelfree had three extra-base hits and scored three times and Luke Helton went 3 for 4 with a triple and four runs batted in to lead Whiteland to an 11-4 rout of Decatur Central on Thursday.

Aaron Baker also drove in a couple of runs for the Warriors (7-6, 5-1 Mid-State).

Lancers handle Morristown

Edinburgh’s offense got going late in an 8-1 victory over Morristown on Thursday. Parker Bryant, Eric Armel and Zach Giles each had two hits for the Lancers (4-5, 4-3 Mid-Hoosier), with winning pitcher Giles driving in a pair of runs.

Girls tennis

Grizzly Cubs shut out Woodmen

Franklin posted a 5-0 victory over Greenwood on Thursday afternoon. Katie Heuchan, Alexa Wilkison and Emma Genter dominated the singles matches to clinch the win for the Grizzly Cubs (9-1).

At No. 1 doubles, Abi Smith and Daryn Hyneman needed three sets to edge Alyssa Roscoe and Maecee Terhune. Allison Bennett and Hayley Rayl won in straight sets at No. 2.

Trojans sweep Park Tudor

Sixth-ranked Center Grove blanked Park Tudor on Thursday, 5-0. Isabella Schoolcraft, Ellie Strube and Jillian Garrett took their respective singles matches in straight sets. Emily Hoy and Ashlee Fisk won at No. 1 doubles, while Holyn Aukerman and Abby Hoard cruised at No. 2.

Warriors blank Decatur Central

Whiteland rolled to a 5-0 victory over Decatur Central. Reese Johnson, Haley Darling and Sophie Venter dropped a combined six games in sweeping the singles points. Sarah Scott and Bri Harwell won at No. 1 doubles, with Hannah Blum and Riley Burnside picking up a point at No. 2.

Boys golf

Warriors defeat Braves

Zach Ricketts led the way with a round of 37 as Whiteland topped Indian Creek on Thursday, 163 to 187. Jacob Johnson added a 40 for the Warriors, while Isaac Ebeyer and Brady Brewer each carded a 43.

Dakota Day led Indian Creek with a 44.

Cougars topple Lancers

Despite a round of 38 from medalist Bladen Hancock, Greenwood Christian defeated Edinburgh on Thursday, 179 to 238. Zach Garcia paced GCA with a 42, while Cayden Bauschek shot a 43.

Grizzly Cubs outdo Falcons

Franklin beat Perry Meridian in an 18-hole match on Wednesday, 330 to 351. Javan Johnson led the way with a 75, while Matt Jordan and Blake McIntire were both right behind him with rounds of 76.

Track and field

Woodmen second in three-way

Greenwood’s boys and girls both finished behind Plainfield and Martinsville on Thursday. Hanna Anderson won the 100, 200 and 400 meters for the Woodmen in the girls meet, while Emily Bonser took first in the shot put and discus and Olivia Weston won the high jump.

For the boys, Nick Young (shot put), Joey Brazelton (long jump) and Nick Patton (110 hurdles) had individual victories and the Woodmen also won the 4×800 relay.

Lancers swept by South Decatur

Edinburgh’s boys and girls were defeated by South Decatur in a dual meet on Thursday. Taylor Tatlock was a double winner for the Lancer girls, taking first in the 400 and the discus.

Whiteland’s Adams signs with UIndy

Michaela Adams, a senior who competes in the shot put and discus for Whiteland, signed a letter of intent to continue throwing at the University of Indianapolis.

Adams was a state qualifier and sectional champion in the shot put as a junior.

Franklin College

Baseball wins ninth in a row

Franklin College thumped DePauw, 11-0, on Thursday for its ninth consecutive win. Ryan Erlandson, Ryan Bixler and Alex Mis each drove in two runs in support of winning pitcher Connor Morton, who allowed just two hits in four innings for the Grizzlies (29-2).
