Warriors sweep Panthers

Chapman Roy earned two victories on the mound as Whiteland swept a doubleheader against Jennings County on Saturday, 9-8 and 11-3.

Roy threw an inning of scoreless relief in the opener, then turned around and went the distance in the second game for the Warriors (9-7). Iyan Pelfree had three hits and three RBIs in the first game, while Nick Carrizales homered and Aaron Baker knocked in three runs in the second.

Herbst paces No. 1 Trojans

Center Grove stayed unbeaten with a 2-0 victory over Penn on Saturday at Northwestern High School in Kokomo. Abby Herbst tossed a three-hit shutout for the top-ranked Trojans (17-0), striking out 17 hitters in the win.

Girls tennis

Trojans dominate tourney

Sixth-ranked Center Grove won in all five positions to take first place in an eight-team tournament at Zionsville on Saturday. The Trojans finished with 45 points, well ahead of the host Eagles (28).

Warriors coast to title

Whiteland rolled to 5-0 victories over Shelbyville, Shenandoah and International on Saturday to win the Warrior Tennis Invitational. The Warriors improve to 11-3 overall.

Boys golf

Trojans win Artesian Classic

Center Grove and Franklin took the top two spots at the Artesian Classic in Martinsville on Saturday.

Noah Gillard shot a 70 to lead all players for the Trojans, who finished with a total of 302 to win by 19 shots. The Grizzly Cubs were next in the eight-team field, paced by a 78 from Javan Johnson.

Braves finish third

Indian Creek placed third among seven teams at the Greencastle Tiger Cubs Invitational on Saturday. Scott Russell led the Braves with a round of 90.
