County unemployment continues to drop

The county’s unemployment rate dropped from March.

In April, the unemployment rate in Johnson County was 2.5 percent, with about 2,100 people out of work, according to data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The rate is down from March, when the county’s unemployment rate was 2.7 percent. The percent is the same as last year, when 2.5 percent of workers — or nearly 2,000 people — were unemployed, according to the state data.

Statewide, the April unemployment rate remained the same as March at 3.2 percent. Last year the unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in April, according to state data.
