Man arrested in lottery ticket theft case

An anonymous tip led to the arrest of an Indianapolis man who stole lottery tickets from a Center Grove area gas station last month, police said.

Steven Rosemeyer, 30, was charged with theft.

On April 4, a man later identified as Rosemeyer came into the Shell station, located at 1229 N. Bluff Road, walked around for a while, and then grabbed four rolls of lottery tickets and the plastic dispensers they are kept in and ran, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Less than two days after video and photographs from the store’s surveillance camera were released, the sheriff’s office received an anonymous tip identifying the man as Rosemeyer, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The video footage also matched a suspect who police said stole lottery tickets from a store in Indianapolis, the report said.

Rosemeyer told investigators he took the lotterty tickets to repay a debt, the report said.

Rosemeyer, 1305 Grant Ave., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. He was held on $1,250 bond.
