Two charged after man beaten

Two people are facing felony battery charges after a man was beaten in a Greenwood home and the incident was recorded.

Bishop E. Brandle, 30, and Sarah D. Marion, 32, both of Greenwood, were both charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal confinement with bodily injury and conversion. Brandle was also charged with invasion of privacy after violating a no contact order with Marion, according to court records.

The charges stem from an incident in March where a man went to a Greenwood home and then was beaten by Brandle and Marion while two juveniles inside the home recorded the incident, according to police reports.
[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]

After the beating, the man was found disoriented along the side of the road and taken to a hospital, where he had to have reconstructive surgery on his face, the report said.

Police said Brandle and Marion had someone else contact the man to get him to the home. They accused him of stealing from them and then punched, kicked and stomped on him. They then forced the man to strip down to his underwear and leave, the report said.

The beating was recorded in multiple cellphone videos by two juveniles in the home, which police collected as evidence, the report said. Police also reviewed text messages setting up the beating, the report said.

During the beating, the man begged Brandle and Marion to stop and tried to get up to leave, but the door was barricaded. When they let him leave, a nurse found him walking along the road disoriented and covered in blood and he was taken to the hospital, the report said.

The man told police his left eye socket was broken and he needed reconstructive surgery and had seen a plastic surgeon, the report said.

Marion and Brandle, both of 84 Greenwood Trail North, were arrested. Marion was released on bond. Brandle is being held at the Johnson County jail without bond.
