County home sales decrease

Local home sales dropped last month, a trend felt across central Indiana.

Johnson County home sales fell 2.5 percent in June, compared to the same time the year before, according to a report from Indianapolis-based F.C. Tucker Co.

Across central Indiana, home sales also fell by less than 1 percent, the report said. Home sales also fell in Hamilton and Marion counties, the report said.

But local home sales for the year remain up by nearly 8 per-cent, which is more than the central Indiana increase of just under 3 percent, the report said.

At the same time, the average sales price increased in Johnson County by nearly 5 percent to $212,678. The average sales price in central Indiana also increased by 8.5 percent to $213,339, the report said.

“We’re continuing to see the effects of nationwide low inventory here in central Indiana,” Jim Litten, CEO of F.C. Tucker Company, said in a news release.

“Low inventory affects affordability, however we’re optimistic the market will continue to offer homes of all price ranges to buyers while also providing competitive sale prices for sellers.”
