Gildersleeve reaches ‘B’ final at nationals
Franklin’s Carla Gildersleeve earned a spot in the ‘B’ final of the 100-meter butterfly Thursday at the Speedo Junior Nationals in Irvine, California.
Gildersleeve finished her preliminary swim in 1 minute, 1.62 seconds, good for 16th among 110 finishers. The finals, in the evening session, were contested after the Daily Journal’s deadline.
On the boys side, Jacob Destrampe finished 94th in the 100 fly with a time of 57.39 seconds.

Grizzly Cubs top Falcons
Franklin used a balanced effort to cruise past Perry Meridian, 163 to 192, on Wednesday.
Ellie Beavins and Ava Ray both carded rounds of 40 to lead the Grizzly Cubs. Taylor Drake finished with a 41 and Carly Woodward added a 42 to round out the scoring.
