Letter: Thanks to hospital staff for making a difference when it mattered most

To the editor:

I wanted to write to you to let your readers know about the amazing service I received from Johnson Memorial Hospital and its Emergency and Trauma Center.

On July 15, 2018 I was involved in a helicopter accident at Franklin Flying Field where I sustained severe burns on my legs. When my colleagues brought me to the emergency room, they did not know the seriousness of my condition nor did they know the eventual outcome. The staff at the emergency room was calm, professional and caring. They not only took care of me – but they reassured my friends who were understandably very concerned. The staff was the epitome of knowledge and professionalism.

The staff took care of me with such competence and thoroughness that they kept me calm which undoubtedly contributed to a successful outcome. In today’s climate where healthcare is often about profit, the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital made me feel like my health was the only consideration in their treatment plans. When the ER staff went to work on July 15, undoubtedly they thought they were just going to their job. That day, however, has been one of the most important days of my life and they made a true difference to me and my friends.

Sincerely,

Richard Money
