Edinburgh football defeated by Milan

Edinburgh had shown improvement over the past two weeks but took a step back against some stiffer competition on Friday night, falling to Milan by the final score of 42-8.

The Indians kicked off the scoring when quarterback Parker Lewis connected with Joel Norman for a 36-yard touchdown with 5:49 left in the first quarter.

Edinburgh showed fight early as coach Jason Burton dug deep into the Lancer playbook. Burton dialed up some deceptive formations for the Indians to defend and they took advantage of the confusion.

Quarterback Tyson Sackman completed a pass to senior Bryce Burton for a 48-yard gain to set the Lancers up deep in Milan territory.

The momentum was short-lived, however, as two plays later Milan intercepted a tipped pass intended for Burton.

Not to be out done by the Lancer trickery, Lewis threw behind the line of scrimmage to Peyton Wert, who followed up by spiraling the ball 42 yards downfield to a wide-open Adam Norman to end the second quarter.

The double pass set up Tyler Smith for a 3-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to extend the Milan lead. Smith added another score with 10:22 left in the half to bring the score to 21-0.

After a Lewis to Wert touchdown pass, Tyler Smith capped his night off with his third rushing TD, this one from 16 yards out as Milan took a 35-0 lead into halftime.

Smith had an excellent game on the ground.
